Spam traditionally refers to excessivly posting worthless material accross a forum. Often it's just an excuse mods use to suspend or ban someone who they personally don't like.

"Spam threads" or "spam sections" are common in small InvisionFree forums run by faggots. Usually spelled "spamzorz", "teh spamzorz", "t3H Sp4Mz0rZ", you get the picture.
