LCIRC
From Interdex, the community-edited guide to the local internet.
LCIRC is the IRC network where everything began, from the precursor to #emptv to #albinoblacksheep. Network staff includes the founder, Ganja51, who's not around too often but is a solid guy; Axel Stone, who is competent and helpful; SourceX, who is probably the most technically inclined of all of them, and Bishop, who is pretty much none of the above.
This network was created in early 2001, or quite possibly late 2000. It was unnamed for a short period, until Bishop came up with the name "Legally Challenged IRC Network", and it happened. The network was originally populated mainly by denizens of the old #subseven on the SubGenius IRC network, and the network staff was composed mostly of old members of the "SubSeven Crew", a group of beta testers for that program. Over time, other groups of people have moved or created channels there.
One of the largest channels on LCIRC is #albinoblacksheep, the official channel of Albino Blacksheep. This channel is where you go if you want to actually feel the sensation of neurons committing hara-kiri.
Another channel is #myg0t, the channel for myg0t, which is a group of people who primarily concern themselves with "raging" people over the internet. It's the place to go if you want to hang out and chill with a laid-back group of pals.
Equivocal Haven's IRC channel was located here for a time, but constant harassment forced them to retreat to Cythnet.
There are also other channels that have come and gone, such as a Hispanic XDCC channel known as #rokola, and #destroyman, where people that DESTROYMAN had made himself aware to congregated.
This network was also the staging point for the events of August 22, 2004.
One of the notable features of LCIRC is a script which is designed to detect bots and ban them. Unfortunately this script doesn't work correctly and has banned legitimate humans on at least five occasions. Recently the IRC operators haven't been able to remove bans caused by this script for unknown reasons.
