2005 was another eventful year for the local internet, with multiple takeovers, repeated ABS ruination, and even death!

- January 28 - Oktagone Publishing Network goes offline, along with EMPTV and 17chan.

- March 12 - The March 12, 2005 ABS Forums crash occurs, with a complete loss of data on the forums.
- March 20 - Mercutio creates Intellectual Elite.

- April 2 - The April 2, 2005 ABS Forums takeover occurs.

- June 2 - Zeshin disables the 17chan.net domain, and 17chan moves to 17chan.com.
- June 5 - Dem0critus becomes a global moderator on ABS, and is removed and banned within the day for posting on 17chan telling everyone his intent to mess with the forums. The incident motivates Mercutio to add a forum to Intellectual Elite.

- July 16 - Melindhra dies in a head-on collision with Julia Dallas while in Illinois visiting cythrawll.
- July 17 - The Melindhra memorial loop appears on EMPTV.
- July 20 - sNYpa threatens to shoot rmuser with a Glock 36.
- July 24 - #emptv moves to Rizon after kraken revokes rmuser's oper privileges on CrypticEdge for making fun of Melindhra.

- August 6 - 13lackjack proposes the idea of merging various local internet forums to rmuser and Tenebrae Vision.

- September 8 - Interdex is created in a subdirectory of 17chan, briefly named "EMPTVdex".

- October 25 - 13lackjack and sleepingpills create Future History, an InvisionFree forum that eventually became Waste of Pixels.

- December 3 - EMPTV discovers that Muse borrowed the identity of Kathryn Parker.
- December 19 - The December 19, 2005 17chan takeover occurs, and jski disables the 17chan.com domain. 17chan temporarily moves to internetdetectives.biz before acquiring 17chan.org.

- Keridwen and JugglingWolves leave ABS and create Equivocal Haven.
